By: Suriya Chayacharoen ( สุริยะ ฉายะเจริญ) In 2015, I spent much of my time creating sketches on paper—a small and humble surface, yet one that offered endless freedom for experimentation. It became a space where I could explore the techniques I loved, letting intuition and curiosity guide my hand. Each line drawn with a pen felt like capturing the breath of a fleeting moment. Some strokes were firm and certain, while others trembled gently with the emotion within me. The watercolor washes—whether applied wet-on-wet or wet-on-dry—seemed to take on a life of their own. Certain pigments flowed and merged unexpectedly, forming subtle shadows, while others settled slowly, leaving behind textures rich with feeling. Experimenting with these varied techniques transformed each sketch into something more than a simple drawing.
